Sun damage is more than
brown spots.
Years of ultraviolet exposure can create brown spots, diffuse pigment, redness, visible vessels, rough texture and fine wrinkling. Some changes are best treated with light, some with fractional laser, some with resurfacing, and many benefit from combining in-office treatment with professional skincare.
Bolus separates the visible components of photodamage before choosing the treatment intensity.
Not just the darkest spot.
Photodamage often responds best when tone and texture are planned together.
One wavelength rarely solves every sign of sun damage.
Brown pigment, vascular redness, fine lines and rough texture are different targets. The treatment plan should know the difference.
What cumulative UV exposure can leave behind.
Brown Pigment
Solar lentigines, freckles and diffuse mottled pigmentation can make tone look uneven.
Redness + Vessels
Photodamage can also produce superficial vascular change and persistent background redness.
Texture
Roughness, enlarged pores and loss of luminosity often accompany long-term sun exposure.
Fine Lines
UV exposure accelerates collagen breakdown and contributes to fine wrinkling and skin laxity over time.
Choose intensity by the amount of correction you want.
BBL HERO
Excellent for selected brown pigment, redness and superficial vascular photodamage in appropriate skin types. Explore BBL →
MOXI
Low-downtime 1927-nm fractional treatment for early photodamage, uneven tone and skin-quality maintenance. Explore MOXI →
HALO / Deeper Resurfacing
For more advanced texture, fine lines and photodamage when a more corrective treatment and greater recovery are appropriate. Explore HALO →
From maintenance to corrective resurfacing.
Targets selected brown pigment and vascular redness, making it especially useful when uneven tone has both pigment and vascular components. Explore BBL HERO →
Useful for early photodamage, diffuse tone irregularity and maintenance with relatively limited social downtime. Explore MOXI →
Hybrid fractional resurfacing for greater improvement in texture, fine lines and photodamage. More correction means more structured preparation and recovery. Explore HALO →
Deeper resurfacing options for selected patients with more advanced photodamage, etched lines or texture. These require prominent pre-care, healing and follow-up planning.
Can improve selected epidermal pigment, roughness and dullness depending on peel depth and skin type. Explore Chemical Peels →
Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen, antioxidants, retinoids when appropriate and barrier-supportive skincare help protect the investment made in corrective treatment.
The deeper the correction, the more important the recovery plan.
Assess
We separate brown pigment, redness, texture and fine lines and review skin type, recent sun exposure and pigment risk.
Prepare
Pre-care depends on treatment intensity. Deeper resurfacing may require more structured skincare, medication review and sun avoidance.
Treat
BBL, MOXI, HALO, CO₂, peels or combination treatment are selected according to the dominant targets and desired correction.
Recover
Recovery ranges from mild redness or temporary darkening of pigment to several days or more of visible healing with deeper resurfacing.
Maintain
UV exposure continues after treatment. Long-term sunscreen, skincare and periodic maintenance help protect the result.
Sun damage is one of the clearest reasons to think in maintenance cycles.
Once corrective work is complete, the goal shifts toward protecting tone, texture and collagen rather than repeatedly starting over.
Start with the amount of correction you want.

What is the best treatment for sun damage?
It depends on whether the dominant problem is brown pigment, redness, texture, fine lines or a combination. BBL, MOXI, HALO and deeper resurfacing each solve different levels of photodamage.
What is the difference between BBL and MOXI?
BBL is often used for selected brown pigment and vascular redness, while MOXI is a 1927-nm fractional laser used for diffuse tone, early photodamage and skin-quality improvement. They are commonly complementary rather than interchangeable.
When would HALO make more sense?
HALO may be considered when texture, fine lines and more advanced photodamage justify a more corrective treatment and additional downtime.
Can sun damage come back?
Corrected pigment does not prevent new UV injury. Continued sun exposure can create new brown spots, redness and collagen damage, so maintenance and sunscreen remain important.
Is melasma the same as sun damage?
No. Melasma has different trigger and recurrence behavior and requires a more cautious pigment strategy. Explore Melasma →
