CoolPeel is only one way we use Tetra CO₂.
Many patients know Tetra CO₂ by the name CoolPeel. CoolPeel represents the lighter, lower-downtime end of what this platform can do. Tetra can also be used for substantially more corrective resurfacing when the skin concern warrants it.
A light Refresh treatment and aggressive corrective CO₂ resurfacing should not be thought of as the same procedure with the settings turned up a little. Treatment intensity, tissue effect, recovery, aftercare, follow-up and corrective potential can be very different.
REFRESH
CoolPeel-style / lighter CO₂ resurfacing
For patients who generally have good skin but want refinement: mild texture, pores, early fine lines, dullness, mild photodamage or periodic resurfacing.
Typical social downtime: ~5–7 days
Expect redness, warmth, dryness and a rough or sandpaper-like texture. Individual recovery varies.
RESTORE
Corrective CO₂ resurfacing
For more established texture, lines, photodamage, visible skin aging and selected acne-scar patterns when a lighter Refresh treatment may under-treat the problem.
Typical social downtime: ~5–7+ days
Expect greater redness plus more noticeable swelling or puffiness, dryness and peeling or crusting depending on treatment intensity and individual healing.
ADVANCED
Deep corrective CO₂ resurfacing
For appropriately selected patients with significant photoaging, deeper wrinkles, substantial texture irregularity or selected significant scarring who accept a much more intensive recovery.
Plan for ~10–14+ days minimum social downtime
Significant redness, swelling and more intensive wound healing should be expected. Pinkness can persist beyond the initial healing period.
More downtime is not the goal. Appropriate correction is.
We do not automatically choose the most aggressive treatment a patient can tolerate. We select the treatment intensity that appropriately matches the skin concern, skin characteristics, healing factors, goals and tolerance for recovery.
Choose the depth of correction—not just the device.
Tetra CO₂ can be adjusted across a wide spectrum. The goal is to use enough treatment to address the concern without automatically choosing the most aggressive option.
CO₂ Refresh
A lighter resurfacing approach for selected texture, dullness, early photodamage and patients who want a more manageable recovery.
CO₂ Restore
A more corrective resurfacing level for patients needing greater improvement in texture, visible damage, fine lines or selected scar patterns.
CO₂ Advanced
A substantially deeper and more intensive resurfacing pathway for appropriately selected patients who accept greater recovery and follow-up requirements.
Transparent treatment-level pricing.
Current face pricing follows the Bolus Standard, Foundation and Elevated structure. Advanced CO₂ is intentionally not discounted because of the treatment intensity, procedure time, recovery and follow-up burden.

Texture, lines, sun damage and selected scars.
CO₂ resurfacing can address multiple visible features of skin damage. The appropriate intensity depends on the problem being treated and the patient's skin characteristics.
Texture + Pores
Fractional resurfacing may improve rough texture and the appearance of enlarged pores through controlled remodeling.
Fine Lines
Selected patients may benefit from resurfacing for visible fine lines and textural signs of photoaging.
Sun Damage
CO₂ may be incorporated into a broader plan for photodamage, uneven texture and visible age-related skin changes.
Acne Scars
CO₂ may be useful for selected boxcar, textural and mixed scar patterns—but scar architecture determines whether another modality should come first.
Crepey Skin
Resurfacing may be considered when surface texture and collagen loss contribute to a crepey appearance.
More Corrective Resurfacing
For selected patients, deeper treatment may provide a more intensive correction than lighter maintenance-oriented procedures.
Resurfacing does not solve every scar structure.
Acne-scar treatment is morphology-directed. CO₂ can play an important role in broader textural remodeling, but tethering and focal deep scars may require different procedures.
Release the structure first.
Fibrous attachments can pull the skin downward. In selected scars, Subcision may be considered before or alongside resurfacing.
Treat focal depth when that is the problem.
Selected deep, narrow scars may require TCA CROSS rather than relying on full-field resurfacing alone.
Remodel + resurface.
CO₂, HALO, RF microneedling or traditional microneedling may be incorporated according to scar depth, skin type and treatment goals.
CO₂ is one option inside a larger resurfacing system.
The right treatment depends on the degree of correction, pigment risk, scar pattern, downtime and whether thermal or non-thermal remodeling makes the most sense.

Healing and collagen remodeling continue after the procedure. Recovery and aftercare depend on treatment depth and intensity.
Your healing matters as much as the treatment plan.
The laser determines the planned treatment intensity. Your biology, medical history, preparation and aftercare can influence how that treatment heals.
Some skin needs preparation first.
Before more aggressive resurfacing, we consider baseline skin characteristics, tanning and pigment response, history of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or melasma, recent sun exposure, current skincare, prior procedures and the planned treatment intensity.
Some patients may need a period of skin preparation, sun avoidance, adjustment of selected skincare products, HSV prophylaxis when indicated, or an individualized pigment-preparation strategy before treatment.
Intensity changes the procedure.
Refresh, Restore and Advanced are not simply three prices for the same treatment. Increasing treatment intensity changes the tissue response, expected recovery, aftercare requirements and follow-up burden.
As resurfacing becomes more aggressive, patient selection and preparation become increasingly important.
Aftercare is part of the treatment.
The procedure ends when the laser turns off. The treatment does not. Cleansing, wound care or occlusion when prescribed, sun avoidance, skincare restrictions, medications when indicated and following your individualized instructions can affect the healing process.

Your recovery is personal.
Tell us about your complete medical history and medications—even if they do not seem related to your skin. Factors that may affect treatment selection, preparation, healing or timing include:
- Baseline skin characteristics and pigment response
- History of dark marks or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Melasma or other pigment disorders
- Smoking or nicotine exposure
- Diabetes or impaired wound healing
- Immune or autoimmune conditions
- Medications and supplements
- History of cold sores / HSV
- Recent sun exposure, tanning or sunburn
- Active infection, dermatitis, acne flare or compromised skin barrier
- Previous procedures and current skincare
- Ability to follow the prescribed pre-care and aftercare plan
Most patients don't—and that's okay.

Published literature describes fractional ablative CO₂ resurfacing as one modality used for photoaging, texture and selected atrophic acne scars. Treatment selection, intensity and recovery depend on patient characteristics and clinical goals.

What is CoolPeel?
CoolPeel is a lower-downtime fractional CO₂ resurfacing approach using the Tetra CO₂ platform. It is designed to provide controlled ablative resurfacing while limiting unnecessary thermal injury compared with more aggressive traditional CO₂ approaches.
What is the difference between CO₂ Refresh, Restore and Advanced?
These are Bolus treatment levels representing progressively greater correction and recovery. Refresh is the lighter pathway, Restore is more corrective, and Advanced is the most intensive CO₂ resurfacing level. The appropriate level requires clinical evaluation.
Can CO₂ treat acne scars?
Fractional CO₂ can be useful for selected acne-scar patterns, especially broader textural or boxcar-type scarring. Rolling or tethered scars may require Subcision, while selected deep ice-pick scars may require TCA CROSS.
Is CoolPeel the same as deep CO₂ resurfacing?
No. CoolPeel generally refers to a lighter fractional CO₂ approach. Deeper or more intensive resurfacing involves a different treatment intensity, recovery profile and follow-up burden.
How much downtime should I expect?
Recovery depends on treatment level, treatment area and individual healing response. A lighter Refresh treatment generally has less recovery than Restore or Advanced resurfacing. Specific expectations are reviewed during consultation.
Why is Advanced CO₂ not discounted?
Advanced CO₂ has substantially greater treatment intensity, procedure time, recovery requirements and follow-up burden. Current Bolus pricing therefore remains $3,500 across Standard, Foundation and Elevated.
Can CO₂ be combined with Subcision or TCA CROSS?
Combination or staged treatment may be appropriate when multiple scar morphologies are present. Subcision, TCA CROSS and CO₂ address different structural components of acne scarring.
Can I text a photo and have you tell me which CO₂ level I need?
