Hydrate.
Recharge.
Keep Moving.
Bolus Med Spa offers clinician-led IV hydration and nutrient infusions, including basic hydration, Myers Cocktail and NAD+ infusions, along with selected injectable and IV-push wellness options.
Every IV visit begins with assessment by a licensed, board-certified nurse practitioner. We review relevant history, medications, allergies, temperature and vital signs before deciding whether elective IV therapy is appropriate.
More than one way to support the visit.
- IV Hydration
- Myers Cocktail
- NAD+ Infusions
- Glutathione slow IV push
- B12 + MIC/Lipo injections
- IV therapy for select Group Treatments + events
Some options are infusions. Some are injections or IV pushes. The appropriate route and formulation are reviewed individually.
Hydration around real life.
Elective IV therapy is not a substitute for medical evaluation of acute illness. For appropriately screened wellness patients, however, hydration may fit around travel, exercise, celebrations, demanding schedules and personal wellness routines.
After Travel
Long flights, disrupted routines and busy travel days are common reasons patients ask about hydration.
After A Late Night
Some patients seek hydration after a demanding night or weekend. We do not market IV therapy as a hangover cure.
After The Finish Line
Marathon, half marathon, 5K, CrossFit event or a demanding workout? Hydration may be one component of a post-event wellness routine.
Before Travel Or Competition
Some patients incorporate hydration into preparation for travel or a demanding event. It is not represented as a performance-enhancing treatment.
Wellness + Self-Care
Some patients simply enjoy making hydration part of a broader wellness routine.
Before The Glow-Up
Weddings, celebrations, photos and events often make patients more intentional about hydration, skincare and their overall routine.
Start with the experience — then screen for the right infusion.
The final formulation is selected only after assessment. If you do not know what to choose, that is exactly what the evaluation is for.
IV Hydration
A straightforward option centered on intravenous fluid administration for an appropriately screened wellness patient.
Myers Cocktail
A well-known IV micronutrient formulation containing vitamins and minerals. Published evidence for broad wellness benefits remains limited.
NAD+ Infusion
NAD+ is central to cellular metabolism and redox biology. IV NAD+ has growing commercial interest, but outcomes evidence remains limited and infusions may require slower administration for tolerability.
We are a wellness clinic — not urgent care.
IV therapy at Bolus is administered by a licensed, board-certified nurse practitioner after an individual assessment.
We review relevant history, medications, allergies, temperature and vital signs before treatment. If you are actively vomiting, have a fever, suspected influenza or COVID-19, abnormal vital signs, significant dehydration symptoms, chest pain, shortness of breath, neurologic symptoms or another concerning finding, we will not proceed with elective IV therapy.
Depending on the findings, you may be directed to urgent care, emergency care or another appropriate medical setting.
Assessment first. Infusion second.
Assessment
A board-certified nurse practitioner reviews history, goals, medications, allergies, temperature and vital signs.
Select
If treatment is appropriate, we review the available infusion or injectable options.
Infuse
An IV is placed and the infusion is administered while you are monitored. NAD+ may require slower administration.
Resume
Most patients return to normal activities after an uncomplicated infusion. Some feel refreshed; others notice little immediate subjective change.
Two additional pathways patients ask us about often.
These belong in the same wellness ecosystem, but each deserves its own evidence, FAQ and treatment page.
Glutathione
Glutathione is a major endogenous antioxidant involved in cellular redox homeostasis and multiple cellular processes.
At Bolus, glutathione is offered as a slow IV push for appropriately screened patients. We also receive frequent questions about skin brightening and hyperpigmentation.
Our position is realistic: glutathione is biologically important, but it is not the secret sauce for pigment correction. Evidence for IV glutathione as a cosmetic skin-lightening strategy is weak. When the actual goal is hyperpigmentation or uneven tone, professional skincare, chemical peels, MOXI and other pigment-focused treatments may be more relevant.
B12 + MIC / Lipo
Bolus also offers selected injectable wellness options including vitamin B12 and MIC/lipotropic formulations for appropriate patients.
Patients commonly ask about these injections for energy, nutrient support and metabolism. We will explain what each ingredient is, what evidence exists, and what the injections can realistically be expected to do.
These injections are not presented as stand-alone weight-loss medications.
Evidence before hype.
IV administration is well established when fluids, electrolytes, medications or nutrients are medically indicated. Elective wellness infusions are a different evidence question. We separate biological plausibility, patient interest and proven clinical outcomes.
Myers Cocktail Pilot Trial
A controlled pilot trial in 34 adults with fibromyalgia found within-group improvement, but did not show statistically significant superiority over placebo on the major outcomes.
Read The PubMed Study →IV NAD+ Metabolism
A human pilot characterized plasma and urinary NAD+ metabolites during a six-hour infusion. It was not an outcomes trial proving energy, performance, cognition or recovery benefits.
Read The NAD+ Study →NAD+ Wellness Evidence
A PRISMA-guided systematic review found biological activity but inconclusive human wellness outcomes, with no eligible outcomes trials of IV or IM NAD+ itself for anti-aging or wellness indications.
Read The Review →IV NAD+ Tolerability
A retrospective real-world study found that IV NAD+ can require longer infusion times and may produce infusion-related symptoms in some patients, reinforcing the importance of rate and monitoring.
Read The Study →Glutathione + Cellular Redox Biology
Glutathione is a pivotal intracellular antioxidant involved in redox homeostasis across multiple cellular compartments. Its biological importance does not automatically validate every marketed IV wellness claim.
Read The Review →Glutathione + Skin Lightening
A systematic review found substantially more evidence for oral and topical glutathione than IV use. IV evidence was sparse and did not support treating IV glutathione as an evidence-based skin-lightening solution.
Read The Review →The Bolus interpretation: interesting science does not equal a proven clinical promise. We can discuss hydration, micronutrients, NAD+ and glutathione without converting mechanistic research or small studies into claims of “detox,” guaranteed energy, immunity, anti-aging, performance enhancement or dramatic skin lightening.
IV therapy may be incorporated into select group events.
Planning a bachelorette gathering, private wellness event, race, fitness event or other organized group experience? Selected IV therapy may be incorporated into qualifying Bolus Group Treatments when clinically and operationally appropriate.
Bolus does not offer standalone mobile IV therapy, individual house calls, or on-demand IV service. IV therapy is normally provided at our Elkridge location. Off-site IV therapy is available only as part of an approved Bolus group or organized event experience, and every participant must still complete individual clinical assessment and screening before treatment.
Simple payment. No insurance billing.
Bolus Med Spa is a direct-pay practice for all treatments, procedures, products, and services.
No Insurance Billing
Bolus does not accept insurance, submit claims, obtain prior authorizations, appeal denials, or communicate with insurers for reimbursement.
Cards Accepted
HSA and FSA cards may be used when permitted by the patient’s plan. Eligibility and reimbursement are determined by the plan administrator, not Bolus.
Receipts + Administrative Requests
When appropriate, Bolus can provide an itemized receipt with applicable ICD-10 and/or CPT coding. Custom letters, emails, forms, or other reimbursement-related administrative work are $50 per request.
The questions patients actually ask.
Clinical screening, safety, expectations and evidence matter more than promising everyone they will “feel amazing.”
Who administers IV therapy at Bolus Med Spa?
IV therapy is administered by a licensed, board-certified nurse practitioner after an individual assessment, review of relevant history, and vital-sign screening.
Will Bolus treat me if I am sick, actively vomiting, or have a fever?
No. Bolus Med Spa is not a sick clinic or urgent care. Patients with active vomiting, fever, suspected influenza or COVID-19, abnormal vital signs, significant dehydration symptoms, or other findings suggesting acute illness will not receive elective IV therapy and will be referred to urgent care, emergency care, or another appropriate medical setting depending on severity.
Does IV therapy hurt?
Most people feel a brief needle stick during IV placement. Mild pressure, coolness, or awareness of the IV may occur. Pain, burning, swelling, or other concerning symptoms at the site should be reported immediately.
Is IV therapy safe?
IV therapy is generally well tolerated in appropriately screened patients, but it is not risk-free. Potential risks include bruising, bleeding, infiltration, phlebitis, infection, allergic or infusion reactions, electrolyte or fluid-related complications, and ingredient-specific adverse effects.
Is there downtime?
Most patients can return to normal activities after an uncomplicated infusion. Temporary bruising or tenderness at the IV site can occur.
What should I expect during my appointment?
A licensed, board-certified nurse practitioner reviews relevant medical history, medications, allergies, goals, temperature, and vital signs. If treatment is appropriate, an IV is placed and the selected infusion is administered while you are monitored.
Will I actually feel anything after an IV?
Maybe, but not necessarily. Some patients report feeling refreshed or better, while others notice little or no immediate subjective change. The infusion still delivers the prescribed fluid directly into the circulation even when you do not perceive a dramatic sensation.
Does IV hydration treat dehydration?
IV fluids are routinely used in medical settings when fluid replacement is clinically indicated. Elective IV therapy at Bolus is for appropriately screened wellness patients and is not a substitute for urgent or emergency evaluation when significant dehydration or acute illness is suspected.
Can I get an IV after travel, a late night, or a hard workout?
Patients commonly seek elective hydration after travel, a late night, demanding exercise, races, or competitions. Bolus does not represent IV therapy as a cure for hangovers, jet lag, headache, or athletic recovery.
Can IV therapy help a headache?
Headache can accompany dehydration, but it has many possible causes. A new, severe, unusual, or neurologically associated headache requires appropriate medical evaluation rather than elective wellness treatment.
What is a Myers Cocktail?
A Myers Cocktail is an IV micronutrient infusion containing vitamins and minerals. Formulations vary. Published clinical evidence is limited, and Bolus does not present it as a proven treatment for broad wellness claims.
What is NAD+ IV therapy?
NAD+ is a naturally occurring coenzyme involved in cellular metabolism and redox biology. Human IV NAD+ research remains limited. Available studies include pharmacokinetic and tolerability data, while clinical effectiveness for broad wellness outcomes has not been established.
Why can NAD+ take longer?
NAD+ infusions may need to run more slowly than simple hydration because some patients develop infusion-related symptoms when the rate is not well tolerated. Timing is individualized.
What is glutathione?
Glutathione is an antioxidant naturally produced by the body and involved in cellular redox balance. Bolus offers glutathione as a slow IV push for appropriately screened patients. Evidence for cosmetic skin lightening, especially by the IV route, is limited and should not be overstated.
Does glutathione lighten skin?
Glutathione is frequently marketed for skin brightening or lightening, but the evidence is limited and route-dependent. For hyperpigmentation or uneven tone, professional skincare, chemical peels, MOXI and other pigment-focused approaches may be more appropriate.
What are B12, MIC, and Lipo injections?
These are injectable wellness options that may include vitamin B12 and lipotropic ingredients. Patients often ask about them for energy, nutrient support, or metabolism. Bolus does not present these injections as stand-alone weight-loss medications.
Who may not be a candidate for elective IV therapy?
Acute illness, abnormal vital signs, fever, active vomiting, certain heart or kidney conditions, fluid restrictions, pregnancy-related considerations, medication interactions, allergies, and other clinical factors may require deferral, modification, or referral.
Do you accept insurance, HSA, or FSA for IV therapy?
Bolus Med Spa does not accept, bill, or participate with insurance for IV therapy or any other treatment, procedure, product, or service. HSA and FSA cards are accepted as a form of payment when permitted by the patient’s plan, but Bolus does not determine or guarantee eligibility or reimbursement. We do not complete prior authorizations, insurance claims, appeals, or insurance/HSA/FSA paperwork. When appropriate, we can provide an itemized receipt with applicable ICD-10 and/or CPT coding. Custom letters, emails, forms, medical-necessity documentation, or other administrative correspondence requested for reimbursement or benefit purposes are subject to a $50 administrative fee.
Do you offer mobile IV therapy or house calls?
No. Bolus Med Spa does not offer standalone mobile IV therapy, individual house calls, or on-demand IV service. IV therapy is normally provided at our Elkridge location. Off-site IV therapy may be available only as part of select Bolus Group Treatments or organized events. Every participant must still undergo individual clinical assessment, temperature and vital-sign screening before treatment.
Can IV therapy be combined with Group Treatments or events?
Yes. Selected IV therapy may be incorporated into qualifying private group experiences, bachelorette gatherings, fitness events, and other Bolus events when clinically and operationally appropriate. Every treatment guest is screened individually.
