Platysma + Neck Bands Botox
Soften Downward Pull. Refine The Neck + Jawline.

A sophisticated lower-face and neck treatment designed to soften active Platysmal bands and reduce selected downward muscular pull.

The platysma is a broad superficial muscle that extends from the upper chest through the neck and into the lower face. When it becomes prominent, it can create visible vertical neck bands and contribute to downward tension along the jawline.

At Bolus, we evaluate the neck, jawline, DAO and chin as a connected muscular system. The goal is a softer, more elegant lower-face transition while preserving natural expression.

Why Platysmal Bands Form

Muscle activity can create visible neck bands and downward pull.

Platysmal bands are vertical cords created by contraction of the platysma muscle. They may become more noticeable with animation and often become more visible over time.

Because the platysma extends into the lower face, strong activity can also contribute to downward tension along the jawline and lower-face border.

Neuromodulator treatment addresses the muscular component. It does not remove loose skin, replace lost volume or reposition deeper tissues.

Platysmal Bands + Lower-Face Pull

A neck concern that is connected to the lower face.

Treating the platysma well requires understanding how the neck and lower face move together.

01 - Bands

Visible Platysmal Bands

Vertical cords may become more prominent when the neck contracts. Selected neuromodulator treatment can soften excessive muscle activity.

02 - Jawline

Downward Jawline Pull

Platysmal fibers can contribute to downward tension along the mandibular border and lower-face transition.

03 - Balance

Lower-Face Balance Matters

The platysma, DAO and mentalis interact. Evaluating adjacent muscles together can create a more balanced result than treating one area in isolation.

Your Treatment At Bolus

Expert-level planning for the neck + jawline.

Platysma treatment is not simply a matter of placing toxin into every visible band. We map the pattern of contraction, assess the jawline and lower face, and determine whether the DAO or chin should also be addressed.

01 - Evaluate

Watch The Neck Move

We assess band pattern, asymmetry, jawline pull, lower-face movement and whether skin laxity is contributing.

02 - Plan

Treat The Correct Muscles

Injection sites and dose are selected according to your anatomy rather than a standardized one-pattern-fits-all map.

03 - Balance

Preserve Natural Function

The objective is a softer neck and lower-face transition while maintaining natural speech, swallowing, expression and movement.

The Bolus Liquid Facelift Approach

Lower-face lifting without surgery.

For selected patients, the most elegant result comes from treating the lower face as one connected muscular system. Strategic treatment of the DAO, mentalis/chin, platysma and selected jawline fibers can reduce multiple vectors of downward muscular pull at the same visit.

This expert-level neuromodulator approach can create a subtle, soft visual lifting effect through the lower cheek, jowl and jawline transition while preserving natural expression.

We refer to this as a liquid facelift approach because there are no incisions and no surgery. It is not equivalent to a surgical facelift and does not remove excess skin or physically reposition deeper facial tissues.

DAO

Softens selected downward pull at the corners of the mouth.

Chin

Balances excessive mentalis activity and softens dimpled or pebbled chin movement.

Platysma

Softens active neck bands and selected downward lower-face tension.

Jawline

Completes the muscular assessment along the lower-face and mandibular border.

Muscle Activity vs Skin Laxity

Not every aging neck concern is a toxin problem.

Platysma Botox treats muscle activity. Loose skin, crepey texture, etched horizontal neck lines, fat and volume loss require a different conversation.

Dynamic Platysmal Bands

Visible vertical cords caused by active platysmal contraction are the component most directly addressed with neuromodulator treatment.

Skin Laxity + Resting Neck Lines

If the neck remains loose or creased when the muscle is relaxed, resurfacing, collagen-remodeling or another skin-focused treatment may be more appropriate.

Candidacy + Safety

Expert treatment still requires careful patient selection.

The neck contains muscles important for swallowing, speech and normal movement. Precise placement, appropriate dosing and clinical evaluation matter.

Tell us before treatment if you...

Are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding; have a neuromuscular disorder; have difficulty swallowing; have significant muscle weakness; have had prior botulinum toxin complications; or have an active infection in the treatment area.

Potential risks

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising may occur. Other risks include asymmetry, unwanted weakness, changes in neck movement and, rarely, difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing from spread of toxin effect.

Platysma + Neck Botox FAQ

Common questions about neck bands + lower-face lifting.

What are Platysmal bands?

Platysmal bands are visible vertical cords created by contraction of the platysma muscle. They may become more prominent with animation and aging.

How does Botox help neck bands?

Neuromodulator treatment temporarily reduces selected platysmal contraction, which can soften active vertical bands and selected downward lower-face pull.

What is a Nefertiti lift?

The term commonly refers to neuromodulator treatment of selected platysmal fibers and jawline areas to reduce downward muscular pull. It is a nonsurgical injection technique, not a surgical facelift.

Why combine the DAO, chin and platysma?

These adjacent lower-face muscles can work together to create downward pull, chin tension and neck banding. When several patterns are present, treating them as one coordinated system may create a more balanced result.

How much does Platysma / Neck Bands Botox cost?

Typical treatment at Bolus is approximately $400–$800. Exact investment depends on the treatment field, anatomy, product and individualized dose.

Can neck Botox tighten loose skin?

No. Botox treats muscle activity. Loose or crepey skin may require resurfacing, collagen-remodeling or another skin-focused treatment.

How long does treatment last?

Typical duration is approximately 3–4 months, although individual response varies.
