It's about function, not filling.
One of the biggest misconceptions about a Lip Flip is that it makes the lips larger. It doesn't.
A Lip Flip uses a small, individualized amount of neuromodulator around targeted muscles of the mouth. By changing muscular pull, the upper lip may relax slightly outward so more of the lip you already have becomes visible.
Reveal
If your upper lip seems to disappear or roll inward when you smile, a Lip Flip may help reveal more of your natural lip.
Soften
Relaxing muscular activity around the mouth may soften the appearance of vertical perioral or “smoker's” lines.
Balance
In appropriate patients, treatment can reduce how much gum shows when smiling and create a more balanced smile.
Can a Lip Flip give me “duck lips”?
No. A Lip Flip does not inject volume into your lips.
Because the treatment works by modifying muscle activity rather than adding filler volume, a Lip Flip cannot overfill the lips. The goal is subtle support and improved presentation of the lip you naturally have.
They do different jobs.
Lip Flip and lip filler aren't necessarily competitors. Sometimes they work better together.
Function + Support
A Lip Flip changes muscular activity around the lip. It may reveal more natural lip, soften perioral lines, and help reduce gummy-smile show.
It does not add volume or create structural shape.
Shape + Volume
Dermal filler adds physical product to the lips. It can be used to create volume, improve contour, enhance structure, or address specific shape goals.
Filler changes structure in a way a Lip Flip cannot.
Sometimes the best answer is both.
For selected patients, a Lip Flip can support how the lip moves while filler addresses shape or volume. Because the treatments work differently, they can complement one another rather than duplicate one another.

The muscles around the mouth are involved in smiling, speaking, eating and drinking. That is why Lip Flip treatment should be conservative and individualized rather than treated as a one-size-fits-all injection pattern.
Treatment
A small amount of neuromodulator is strategically injected into selected muscles around the upper lip based on your anatomy and treatment goals.
Results
Changes develop gradually as the neuromodulator takes effect. Your provider will discuss expected onset, duration and follow-up based on the product used.
Recovery
Most people return to normal activities quickly. Temporary injection-site redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur.
Subtle is intentional.
Too much relaxation around the mouth can temporarily affect functions such as drinking from a straw, pursing the lips, pronunciation or other lip movements. Conservative, anatomy-based dosing matters.
There's a better way to maintain it.
