Keep the expression.
Soften the lines.
Neuromodulators temporarily reduce targeted muscle activity that contributes to dynamic wrinkles. At Bolus Med Spa, the goal is not to make every forehead look the same. We evaluate how your face moves, where you are strong, where you compensate, and how much movement you actually want to keep.
Four brands. One face that needs an individualized plan.
Natural doesn't necessarily mean using less.
A natural-looking result is about balance. Treating one isolated muscle group while leaving every opposing or surrounding muscle completely untreated can sometimes create an obvious mismatch.
For some patients, a conservative upper-face treatment is exactly right. Others benefit from a more comprehensive approach that considers the brows, eyes, lower face, jawline and neck as one interconnected system.
The treatment plan should fit the face—not force the face into a predetermined number of units.
Wrinkle treatment goes well beyond the “11s.”
Neuromodulators can influence expression, facial balance and muscle-driven concerns across the upper and lower face, jaw and neck. Some treatments are FDA-approved for particular products and indications, while others may be performed off-label after individualized assessment.
Frown Lines
Reduce strong corrugator and procerus movement responsible for the vertical “11” lines between the brows.
Forehead Lines
Soften horizontal forehead movement while balancing brow position and the patient's desired amount of expression.
Crow's Feet
Reduce dynamic lines around the outer eyes created by orbicularis oculi movement.
Brow Shaping
Strategic treatment can influence the balance between muscles that elevate and depress the brows.
Lower Eyelid
Selected patients may be candidates for conservative treatment of dynamic lower-eye movement.
Lip Flip
Small-dose treatment can reduce upper-lip inversion without adding filler volume.
Gummy Smile
Selected upper-lip elevator muscles may be treated to reduce excessive gingival show.
Chin / Mentalis
Can soften dynamic chin dimpling or excessive mentalis activity.
DAO / Downturned Mouth
Strategic treatment may reduce downward pull at the corners of the mouth in appropriately selected patients.
Masseters
Masseter treatment may be considered for selected patients with excessive muscle activity, facial widening or clenching-related concerns.
Jawline
Lower-face treatment may help rebalance muscular downward pull and improve the appearance of the jawline in selected patients.
Platysma / Neck Bands
Treatment can reduce visible platysmal contraction and muscle-driven vertical neck bands.
The dose is only one part of the plan.
These examples are intended to illustrate how treatment becomes progressively more comprehensive. They are not prescriptions or guaranteed unit requirements.

Botox®
The most recognized cosmetic botulinum toxin brand and an important benchmark in aesthetic treatment. Botox is one option within the broader neuromodulator category—not a generic name for every product.
Botox Questions ↓Dysport®
Dysport uses product-specific units and has its own dosing profile. Its units are not interchangeable with Botox units.
Learn About Dysport →Jeuveau®
An aesthetic botulinum toxin option that provides another formulation choice for dynamic facial lines.
Learn About Jeuveau →Xeomin®
An incobotulinumtoxinA formulation and another option when selecting a wrinkle-relaxing treatment around an individual patient.
Learn About Xeomin →100 units of Dysport is not 100 units of Botox.
The number printed on the syringe only makes sense when you know which medication is being used.
Botulinum toxin units are product-specific.
Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau and Xeomin are prescription medications manufactured and tested differently. Their potency units are specific to each product and should not be assumed to be interchangeable.
This is one reason comparing clinics solely by “price per unit” can be misleading if you don't know which product, dose and treatment strategy are actually being compared.
What about Dysport?
A commonly used clinical conversion framework is approximately 2.5 Dysport units for every 1 Botox unit, although conversion is not an FDA-defined universal equivalence and individual dosing remains product- and patient-specific.
For example, a patient receiving 100 units of Dysport should not assume that treatment is equivalent to receiving 100 units of Botox.
The better question is: What treatment plan, product and dose are appropriate for my face?
Neuromodulators have real benefits—and real risks.
Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau and Xeomin are prescription medications. Expected temporary effects can include injection-site discomfort, swelling, bruising, headache, asymmetry or an outcome that requires reassessment.
Depending on the treatment area, unwanted muscle weakness may produce effects such as eyelid or brow ptosis, altered smile or lip function, neck weakness or swallowing-related symptoms.
Botulinum toxin products carry boxed warnings regarding the potential for toxin effects to spread beyond the injection site. Symptoms can include generalized weakness, double vision, drooping eyelids, voice or speech changes, difficulty swallowing and breathing difficulty. Serious cases can be life-threatening.
Patients are screened for relevant contraindications, medical history, medications and neuromuscular conditions before treatment.
Cosmetic treatment outside a product's FDA-approved indication is considered off-label. Off-label treatment may be medically appropriate when based on clinical judgment, anatomy, informed consent and an individualized risk-benefit discussion.
The questions patients ask us every day.
What is the difference between Botox and a neuromodulator?
Neuromodulator is the treatment category. Botox is one brand of botulinum toxin. Bolus also offers Dysport, Jeuveau and Xeomin.
How much does Botox cost at Bolus?
Standard Botox-equivalent pricing is $15 per unit. Foundation Private Clients pay $10 per equivalent unit and Elevated Private Clients pay $9 per equivalent unit.
How many units will I need?
There is no responsible universal number. Dose depends on anatomy, muscle strength, treatment areas, product, previous response and how much movement you want to retain. We review the treatment plan and cost before injecting.
Will Botox make me look frozen?
It does not have to. The degree of movement reduction depends on dose, placement and treatment goals. Some patients want substantial movement reduction; others specifically want to retain more expression.
Does more Botox last longer?
Dose can influence the strength and duration of neuromuscular blockade, but the appropriate dose still depends on the muscle, treatment area, product and patient. More is not automatically better; underdosing can also produce a result that is weaker or shorter-lived than intended.
How quickly does Botox work?
Neuromodulators are not immediate treatments. Onset varies by product and individual patient, and the final result should not be judged on the day of injection.
How long does Botox last?
Duration varies with product, dose, muscle activity, treatment area and individual biology. Many cosmetic patients plan recurring treatments rather than expecting a permanent result.
Is Dysport cheaper than Botox?
A Dysport unit is not equivalent to a Botox unit, so comparing the sticker price of a single unit is misleading. The more useful comparison is the total treatment cost required to accomplish a particular treatment goal.
Is 100 units of Dysport the same as 100 units of Botox?
No. The units are product-specific. Dysport and Botox should not be compared unit-for-unit. A commonly used clinical framework is approximately 2.5 Dysport units for every Botox unit, although dosing must ultimately be selected for the individual product and patient.
Can neuromodulators help jaw clenching?
Botulinum toxin is sometimes used off-label in the masseter muscles for selected patients with excessive muscle activity or clenching-related concerns. It is not appropriate for every cause of jaw pain or TMJ symptoms, which is why evaluation matters.
What happens if I stop getting Botox?
The treatment effect gradually wears off as neuromuscular activity returns. Your face does not become dependent on cosmetic botulinum toxin simply because you stop maintaining treatment.
Can I switch between Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau and Xeomin?
Potentially, yes. Product choice can change over time based on response, preference, treatment goals and clinical judgment. Because the products use product-specific potency units, the dose should be selected for the specific medication rather than copied unit-for-unit.
