HALO Laser Resurfacing Your Skin Matters
Watch a Combination HALO Laser Resurfacing Treatment
When it comes to skin rejuvenation, "HALO Laser Resurfacing" at Bolus Med Spa should be your go to treatment of choice.
What Is HALO Laser Resurfacing? The worlds only hybrid laser.
HALO has the capability to simultaneously distribute ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in the same area and treat mild to severe skin conditions in the epidermis and dermis in one pass. This achieves better results with less downtime than other lasers.
How does HALO work?
Fractional laser technology is used to create micro-injuries in the skin. Fractional lasers deliver laser energy to the skin in columns, leaving untreated areas of skin between the columns. This allows the skin to heal more quickly and reduces the risk of side effects.
Dermal remodeling is the process of the body producing new collagen and elastin to repair the micro-injuries created by the Halo Laser. This results in smoother, tighter, and more even-toned skin.
In some cases multiple tools and lasers are needed to achieve results. Combing RF Microneedling, CO2 laser, Subcision, Bellafil, and the knowledge and expertise needed to make it all come together is what differentiates our practice.
This is two aggressive HALO treatments three months apart.
What skin concerns does HALO Laser treat?
HALO laser can treat a wide range of skin concerns, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Age spots and sun damage
- Melasma
- Acne scars
- Large pores
- Uneven skin texture and tone
- Aging skin and wrinkles

HALO™ Vs MOXI™: Which Laser Treatment Is Right For You?
With so many options available, you may be wondering which laser skin resurfacing treatment is right for you. At Bolus Med Spa in Elkridge, Maryland, we offer both MOXI and HALO laser skin resurfacing treatments as well as RF Microneedling, CO2 Laser, Bellafill for acne scars, Subcision, and advanced lasers such as TRL (Tunable Resurfacing Laser). Depending on your goals and skincare needs, we will recommend a customized laser skin resurfacing treatment to suit your needs.
MOXI
MOXI is a non-ablative laser, which means it does not create an open wound in the skin. MOXI uses a random fractionated pattern at a specific strength to distribute microscopic depots of laser energy on the skin surface. This results in no actual open wound, but it creates a MEND, which is a microscopic epidermal tissue response that really brightens the skin. This is like “lightly” aerating a lawn.
HALO
The HALO Laser is a hybrid of ablative and non-ablative wavelengths, and penetrates deeper into the skin than MOXI. It also uses a fractionated pattern at specific strengths that create MENDs. The HALO has one laser wavelength that goes deeper to treat damage at the dermal level and one that treats at the surface of the skin. This would be more like aggressively “aerating” the lawn. We can customize HALO to each patient’s specific needs.

How many HALO treatments will I need?
Thats up to you. Heres why: The number of Halo laser treatments you need will depend on your individual skin concerns and goals and the provider operating the laser. Most patients need two to three treatments to achieve their desired results, but keep in mind thats 2-3 treatments with the correct settings.
For example, if you are gorgeous and looking to stay that way, or treat fine lines and wrinkles, you may need one to two treatments a year. BUT, If you are looking to treat acne scars, deeper lines and wrinkles, or melasma, you may need two to three combination treatments.
Here are some factors that may affect the number of Halo laser treatments you need:
- The severity of your skin concerns
- Your skin type
- Your age
- Your desired results
It is important to note that Halo laser is a medical procedure, and there are some risks and side effects associated with it. The most common side effects are redness, swelling, and peeling. These side effects are usually mild and resolve within a few days. In rare cases, more serious side effects can occur, such as infection or hyperpigmentation.
